[25th January 07]

2007 History in the making.

Been a long time since we've had an update, and a boat load of changes t'boot!

Over the next couple of months i'm sure you will notice the work taking place around the gym.

Seems Sarah is adament about a moderate re-furb that will allow for more classes and projects to develope.

A whisper on the wind (and a great pile of new bell and weight equipment) tells me that Stevie B's is starting to develop yet another stage / level to his conditioning program, and due to the fact that he has little time to work with lots of individuals, he is preparing group sessions for classes.

Steve insists "there is still a gap in my total - fitness/ strength and conditioning program. I havbe had a few years to consider this problem and am satisfied that i can address what i consider to be a gap. I can only call this a gap because it is not a problem with my existing sylabas, just an area that needs to be added because it is completely missing. I have experimented with Sarah, but should know by now not to calculate and reason on her performances due to the fact that she is not a normal Human Being. However i do intend to start classwork after the Kids Club Combat Competition on March 3rd. So anybody interested in total body conditioning, contact Steve or leave your details for an interview".

Which brings us to the Kids Open Club Combat Contest, to take place on Saturday 3rd of March at Stevie B's gym. The contest will be covered by Martial Arts journalists as it is the first of its type as far as we are aware. Full rules are to be confirmed but it has been agreed that grapplers will only be allowed 45 seconds on the floor. For further details contact Sarah or Phil on 0121 707 9609.

Two new instructors will start the year 2007 will the Close Quarter Combat (CQC) class. This club was developed after work with World Champion Paddy Doyle in 2000, and has undergone many changes in order to produce the system taught today. The new instructors, Dom Osborne and Olly O'brien, are the first men to ever achieve an Academy I1 instructors grade after a gruelling ordeal which took place during most of 2006. Well done the guys!

Rachel Wheatley has got her Beret on! yep, Rach came out of retirement last year and took a fight at short notice. Rachels other half and coach, Barry Foley, is convince that Rachels first ever real loss may have been the best thing that couldn't have happened. "Rachel had only been training for 3 weeks before acceptintg the match". After the loss, although Rachel was disappointed she went straight back to work and within 6 weeks, competed in Barcalona and distroyed everybody sent against her. So stay tuned, because the "assassin" is in the best shape of her life and heading for the World biggest contest: The Abu Dabi.

By the way... didn't i see Baz giving Stevie B a bashing the other day...! Now there's a man on his game - no wonder Rachel's cooking!

Still on combat, still World Champ Braulio "The Geezer" Estima has just started work with Steve for a set of top flight fights. First the geezer fights at the European Championships, followed by the Carlos Gracie Seminar, then on to March for the "£10,000 Open", then to the Pan Ams to defend his title, and then onto the World Championships in July once again to defend his title. I asked Stevie B how main mans training was going, but got no answer. However, Sarah released and offical statement about all contests: "Steve doesnt wish to make a statement publically because it is early days, and modesty is always something to aspire to - but privately, Steve predicts a win, a win, a win and ...a win".

I've also been informed that Sarah and Steve have been competing against each other again!

No, with strength?!

No, not in combat for a change...

It seems that during the summer, Steve and Sarah had a debate on their ability to get results from the subjects they were coaching. At the close of the year, aparently the quality of improvement could not be split, however the quantity in numbers saw Sarah come out well on top!

What about 2007 guys?

S'pose we'll just have to see!

[8th August 06]

There are new videos to watch on the Videos Page - firstly a couple of martial arts based vids, with Erik Paulson and Frank Shamrock.

Secondly, the first few videos for this summer's Fitness for Life programmes are viewable - with more to come soon.

Enjoy!

[25th June 06]

Stevie B is starting some more training sessions with selected individuals, some of which are being filmed for gerneral viewing. Feel free to watch and learn some new training methods and tips.

[10h April 06]

There are some spangly new cardio machines in the gym: cycling machines, running machines, and cross-trainers. Be sure to use them well!

[17h February 06]

A couple of quick things. Krav Maga has been added to the martial arts pages. Should be a video of that soon to see.

The videos pages has some new contents for new programmes for 2006, following Dom once again, and Braulio. Enjoy.

[5h February 06]

Hey people!
A couple of news items for you!

First of all, the Martial Arts pages have now been updated to current information, though more will be added soon as well.

Secondly, and perhaps most excitingly for the website, we now have Forums online, for Gym users, for fitness information, and for events such as UK Storm and the like. Click the new button to the right of the Therapy button at the top of the page!!

Please have respect for other peoples views and opinions. Enjoy!

Update... update.... by Mr Crosby

So it is, December's update and the information I've got to translate in jolly well enthralling.

Since my last report we have had a myriad of "time-space events", so where to start? How about new classes Mr Crosby, I hear you say. So, the new classes it is then.

Starting with Ande Roberts' White Collar Boxing type class for the over thirties, which will begin in January, and, of course, will be aimed at the over thirties! There has been a great deal of interest in this class and much preparation has gone into facilitating prospective members. The training will be developed on a "ramp up" system, meaning rank beginners can start at a comfortable level and progress at weekly intervals. for further info, why not e-mail us or ring Sarah on 0121 707 9609.

Also on the coming horizon, Stevie B's doth proudly present, non other than, the one and only, the never before, personal trainer from another dimension, Mr Andy W!!

For the very few unenlightened beings who have never heard of his gorgeousness, Mr w has been fitness and conditioning advisor to most of the top circuit "entertainers" for over fifteen years. Why, Andy goes all the way back to the Chippendales (has that given you a clue.... or what?!)

Andy has set up camp and is already taking bookings for January. I recently spoke to Steve and Sarah about the engagement and they assured me that this was an absolute coup for the gym. Andy specialises in weight loss, body and skin toning and correct nutrition. For further info, why not e-mail or even phone us on 0121 707 9609.

There's also talk of new specialist martial arts instructor starting in January. I heard it on the grapevine that this guy was going to be instructing an Israeli technique. When I tried to clarify these details, I was told to push off and mind my own business. So if you think you'll have a better chance of securing this absolute gem of information, why not e-mail or call and see if your luck is better than mine.

Well, it's mid December at the time of writing, and we're all still waiting for the big lull for Xmas. I can't understand how everybody has stayed so enthusiastic about their training. Stevie B told me that it was because our J.K.D. instructor, Nigel, had been using hypnotherapy on the gym gang.

There were a couple of big events going down in the combat world over the past month or so, starting with Cage Warriors in Coventry. Ross Pointon, who is coached by our very own Braulio Estima had a good night with a first round knockout. Marc "The Shark" Goddard had an unlucky night against the "Chocolate Man" from Brazil. Marc walked into a guillotine in the first round. I had been watching Marc spar with his boxing coach "Spencer Mac"and expected him to destroy his opponent. Marc had another bad night at "Cage Rage" at Wembly and did exactly the same thing. On the same night Chrissy Rice restored all gym pride in his devastating victory over the highly rated "Brucie Davis" from Swansea. Ross has dropped down to Welterweight and still looks one of the most exciting fighters on the block.

Word has it that Braulio Estima will be gracing the stage with his presence in 2006. Word also has it that Sub League and UK Storm Fightstarter league was a tremendous success thanks to teams like Jon Roberts Trojan Cunnock, Trojan Gloose and the guys from milton Keynes, Notts and Lancaster. Too many fighters to mention.... Some bloke called Geoff Monson won the overall Sub League. Personally, I thought he was dead lucky to get past Vaughan (who gave him a wrestling lesson), and former hearvyweight champ Radwick. This guy Monson had recently won in a contest called "Abu Dai" ? How he got away with beating Marc "The Shark" in the final, I'll never know - luck I suppose.

Most of the competitors were hanging around for Geoff to buy a round of drinks with his winning, a wait that was in vain due to Mr Monson leaving the building via the fire escape. It's almost impossible to get a round of drinks out of some people!

And on to Firestarter MMA League I. Once again, a really cracking event, some great fights that were well organised by Roger Woodward (I wish i'd brought me kit now), Ande Roberts and Marc Goddard. Top fighter of the night was Sherie Buck (I hope I've spelt her name right or she'll kick my ass). Sherie has improved a great deal and was a worthy winner.

Oh, and by the way, Marc Goddard did not have a bad night tonight folks! He was on fire!!

Look out for a few names at the Academy in January. The Iron Man has been moved to March, and the next Thai Interclub will be in February. UK Storm is looking at June with a whole new twist to the tale, and Stevie B is looking for candidates for the next instructional video. Apparently we're after 4 fighters as well, something to do with an online documentary.

Sarah's brand new Ladies' Class is also about to start in January (e-mail or phone for details) which is also going to film and print (seems Dominic Osborne has got his work cut out!). Sorry I can't be more accurate and descriptive but most of this stuff is still trade secret. One conciliation though, at least you're more informed than Stevie B!!

Love you all loads,

The amazing Mr Crosby.

[30th September 05]

Well, it's time to present a long awaited update. See... we at Stevie B's have been so busy, a spare moment has been
precious, and by the time I finish writing the update, several events will have passed and it will be time to post the results!

So where to start?
Firstly... get ready for some new footage that will interest the keep-fit guys, the shape builders and all you fighters.

Over the summer period we have had a promotions company on site.

The guys have done a fantastic job and managed to sign up a new wave of members, who have settled in very well. Most of our new members have been people who want to gt in shape rather than the hardcore crew - talking of which, we will be preparing for the next iron man challenge in December. This year, great expectations fall, not only to last year's top contenders, but yet another crop of would be iron man warriors.

The events list will be released ASAP. However, we can't not mention Mick Anderson, Kev Curley, Rich Plant, Twinny and Rembrandt - who feels confident of a win after last year's 3rd place.
Inside tip? Not a chance!

Braulio's back!
Braulio Estima is back from the World Championships in Rio. After beating the favourite, Braulio lost to his jinx fighter, Jagarie, who went on to win the title.

Braulio's conditioning team are adamant that he can beat this man, and are looking to arrange a fight on British soil, as in effect, when Braulio fights in Rio he is fighting away from home. Braulio was happy with his performance and starts back to serious training on Monday 3rd October...
Which happens to be the day after Braulio Estima's Submission League, which is being held for the first time at Stevie B's. Braulio's Gracie Brum team are fielding a strong squad, with Glenn, Justin, Rob and Kevin all looking hot at the moment.

Rachel Wheatley's back in training. Chrissy Rice (broken jaw) and Ahad (rib and foot) seemed part of the reason for cancellation of UK Storm III, scheduled for Sept 24th. That, and the fact that Marc "The Shark" Goddard's opponent, Andy Costello (injury) pulled out leaving the Birmingham fan base short of Birmingham fighters.
Marc has attained a stand-in fight at Cage Warriors - Coventry Skydome on Saturday 1st Oct. Marc is scheduled to face Brazilian "Chocolate" Nogaria. Marc's camp feel confident that he is the best fighter he has ever been.
Stevie B's Thai Inter-Club is due to take place on the same day.

This is the first time that we are featuring the Kids classes.
Kick off starts at 11am. Not only are we fielding our Parahya Pitchai seniors but new addition 6x European light heavyweight champ, Spencer Harris, has joined us as junior coach with his "Team Kicks" crew.

A new martial arts schedule has been arranged with the extra classes of Kids Thai and JKD now running due to the loss of Ei Oh Kan Aikido club. Good luck Mr Cassells and Eh Oh Kan.

We hope to be a little bit more forthcoming with our updates in the future.
See you all soon.

[21at March 05]

As some of you may have noticed, there are more clips to view on the videos page. We say clips... some are up to 30 minutes long - we are too good to you!

[13th March 05]

New for you visitors are some videos to watch! They follow the training of a couple of members of the gym over the coming weeks - including the comeback of World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion Braulio Estima. Watch them and learn from them - if you can handle it!

MMA: Vale Tudo
UK STORM was "THE" end of season event that has set a "never before" benchmark in the MMA calendar. Event promotors "Fightstarter" who are fully involved with the great and ever-improving stable of fighters now coming out of Stevie B's, are apparently in negotiations with several other promotors and handlers of fighters.

More about combat sport at Stevie B's
Aikido seminar went very well..
Congratulations to Jonathan on his 2nd Q.

Frank Shanrock at Stevie B's

After a terrific all-day seminar, it was great to see how Frank was pleased with the guys who attended - see Frank's website. It was an honour to have Frank in attendance and a double honour for him to rate us so highly in Europe.... don't forget, Fightco!

Stevie B's have two World Class fighters lined up for the near future (couldn't possibly have them together or it would really go off).

Our current in-house BJJ World Champ Braulio has been working with some 'soon-to-be' big names in preparation for future contests at CCF, and an already big name for his fight at Andy Green's Cage Rage. Seems we'll be running out of space on Wednesday's (again!). The guys go from 1st time trainers all the way up to the most well known fighter in the country (who's the daddy then?!).

For information on UK STORM summer 2005, please ring Sarah on 0121 707 9609 or email ukstorm@stevie-bs-gym.co.uk. Tickets will be limited, as will campsite space.
